Abstract

The Muarajambi Temple Area is a national cultural heritage site with an area of 3,981 hectares. The high growth of tourist visits every year and the diversity of attractions gives this area the potential to become a tourist destination. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that contribute to high visits and the levels of attraction as well as the role of society and the managers of tourist destinations. The method used to conduct this research was a descriptive method, which used interviews, questionnaires, and scores to obtain primary data, and a literature review and documentation to obtain secondary data. The techniques used were assessment, calculation of attractiveness, and percentage. The data in this study consisted of a sample of all the attractions that tourists have visited and the subjects included tourists, local residents, and related government institutions. The results showed that accessibility and the tourist attraction are factors that led to high numbers of visitors. The diversity of the activities obtains the highest attractiveness ratings by tourists. The government is planning to develop tourism while maintaining the sustainability of the temple building by organizing routine tourist events, and promoting the restoration of the temple. Sapta charm has been applied by the local community because it is a daily habit. Additionally, the Padmasana Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has been driving tourism development.
